- Jarvis, Major C.H. Yesterday and Today in Sinai (Edinburgh and London, 1936) & Desert and Delta (London, 1938). Two very entertaining books, by a former British Governor of Sinai.
- Palmer, E. H. The Desert of the Exodus Vol 1 (Cambridge, 1871) Wonderful account from a British explorer with good descriptions of bedouin life of the period. Numerous facsimile reprints available

- Parker, D.C. Codex Sinaiticus: The Story of the World's Oldest Bible (The British Library Publishing Division; 1st edition 2010)
- Soskice, Janet Sisters of Sinai: How Two Lady Adventurers Found the Hidden Gospels (Chatto & Windus, 2009) a vivid account of extraordinary story of Scottish sisters, Agnes and Margaret, who discovered early manuscripts at St Catherine's Monastery.
