Special Projects - National Park Consultancy

Balancing the needs of the local people, the environment and the demands of tourists can be a tricky business.

Because we have been working in Sinai, Egypt, with the local Bedouin for twelve years, we have often helped the National Park to balance the different demands of these various factors.

For example, we have acted as consultants to the National Park for future arrangements for tourism in the region and have worked towards the best way to deal with the influx of visitors to the St Catherine’s area in Sinai.

To the benefit of everyone, Wind Sand & Stars also organise environmental projects, clearing the rubbish on Mount Sinai, and regenerating Bedouin gardens, as well as sorting the 6th Century store houses of the Monastery.

This picture shows the old rubbish dump on Mount Sinai which the National Park with assistance from Wind Sand Stars cleaned out. It took 3000 camel loads!!!
It is now spotless and maintained by local rangers.
